contemporary painting, sculpture,
and photography
Mark Olaf Heinitz
Works currently on display were completed in 2021. This collection consists of two distinct lines of paintings, each being acrylic on canvas, and measuring 36” by 48”.
2021 A priori line.
“From what comes before”
The genesis of these works is an external environment; a landscape or vista that exists in the external world. Created in one paint layer, with simplified shapes and solid blocks of colour, the resulting images are abstracted but recognizable.
2021 A posteriori line.
“From what comes later”
The genesis of these works is a three stage method of colour application. Layers are completed prior to successive stages being visualized.
The first and bottom layer is a smooth flood of colour, with some secondary variations. The highly textured second stage is a combination of troweling and dripping, applied with minimal pre-planning and conscious direction during application. The final stage is a slow and deliberate process of accenting emergent pareidolia with solid infills of colour.
Mission Statement
We are delighted to showcase the artwork of emerging Ontario artists. The focus will be on contemporary painting, sculpture, and photography. We are excited to share and promote the rich variety of work that creators in this province have to offer. Also we will be providing a setting to support small meetings and receptions that share our passion.
